The Foundation Archive

Preserving the Foundation era of digital art

Foundation announced it is winding down. Its infrastructure will stay online for roughly one year, after which the artwork minted there risks disappearing from public access.

The Line is preserving every Foundation artwork made by the artists we hold positions for — pulling them into permanent, decentralised storage before they are lost.

No cost to artists. No action required. The work will be there.

About the archive

What is being preserved

Every Foundation artwork minted by the artists on The Line — pieces in the shared Foundation contract and any solo collection deployed through Foundation's factory. Held and sold alike. We preserve authorship, not ownership.

Where it lives

Every file is now on Cloudflare R2, content-addressed by IPFS CID for cryptographic verifiability. A dedicated IPFS pinning layer will follow when Foundation's infrastructure starts going dark and we can identify which files actually need it.

What it costs you

Nothing. This is The Line's contribution to keeping digital art history from becoming lost work.

Why trust this

Every preserved file will be content-addressed (CID) so its integrity is cryptographically verifiable. The archive JSON lives in public version control. Nightly health checks verify every pin is still alive. If anything slips, it is visible.
